Four executions carried out in Shiraz, Zanjan, and Karaj Prisons

The death sentences of four prisoners—Mohammad Barzegari, Mohammadreza Zare Moayedi, Morteza Arayeshgar, and Homayoun Amjad—were carried out in recent days at prisons in Shiraz, Zanjan, and Karaj. The four men had been convicted of charges including premeditated murder and drug-related offenses.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the morning of Sunday, May 25, 2025, Zare Moayedi, a Lor from the city of Beyza in Fars Province, and Barzegari from Shiraz were executed at Shiraz Central Prison (Adelabad). Both had been sentenced to death for drug-related offenses.

On Saturday, May 24, 2025, Amjad was executed at Zanjan Central Prison. He had also been convicted of drug-related charges.

Earlier, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, Arayeshgar, a resident of Tehran, was executed at Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj. He had been sentenced to death for premeditated murder.

Iranian state media and judiciary-affiliated outlets have not publicly announced these executions.
