Number of executed inmates in Shiraz Prison rises to three

Hengaw – Tuesday, May 27, 2025
The death sentences of three prisoners—Mohammad Zare' Moweydi, Mohammad Barzegari, and Rahman Khodakarami—were carried out in Adelabad Central Prison in Shiraz. All three had previously been convicted by the Iranian judiciary on drug-related charges in separate cases.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the executions took place at dawn on Sunday, May 26, 2025. Zare' Moweydi, 31, was a Lor from the city of Beyza; Barzegari, 28, was from Fasa; and Khodakarami, 29, was a resident of Kazerun—all cities located in Fars Province.
Sources close to the cases reported that Khodakarami was arrested three years ago on charges of trafficking 110 kilograms of methamphetamine. He was later sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary.
Zare' Moweydi and Barzegari had also been arrested four and five years ago, respectively, on similar drug-related charges.
These executions, like many others, have not been reported by state-affiliated media, including those close to Iran’s judiciary.
