Iranshahr: Baloch death row prisoner Aziz Kabdani dies due to medical neglect

Hengaw — Saturday, May 17, 2025
Aziz Kabdani, a 54-year-old Baloch death row prisoner from Zahedan, died in Iranshahr Central Prison after a delayed transfer to a specialized medical facility and inadequate medical care. He had been serving his sentence in Ward 2 of the prison.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Kabdani, who was a father of six, suffered from a severe kidney infection and acute renal failure. Although he was transferred to Khatam al-Anbiya Hospital on Saturday, May 10, and admitted to the intensive care unit, the delay in receiving treatment, combined with the prison’s lack of medical equipment and poor healthcare, ultimately led to his death on May 17, 2025.
Prison authorities failed to respond promptly to his deteriorating condition, and the prison infirmary lacked the resources needed for emergency intervention.
Aziz Kabdani had been arrested three years earlier in Iranshahr on drug-related charges and was sentenced to death by the city’s Revolutionary Court.
