Hengaw – Thursday, October 2, 2025
Yousef Mahmoudzehi, a Baloch prisoner held in Iranshahr Central Prison, has died from kidney disease after being denied timely medical care and hospital transfer.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, Mahmoudzehi, from Pigl village in Khash County, died in Iranshahr Central Prison.
The Baloch Activists Campaign reported that Mahmoudzehi had been serving an eight-year sentence on drug-related charges. He developed severe kidney disease during his imprisonment, but authorities repeatedly denied him medical services and blocked his transfer to outside hospitals, leading to complete kidney failure.
Following a sharp deterioration in his condition, he was eventually moved to Iranshahr Hospital for dialysis but died shortly after being admitted.
