Femicide in Shahrud: Yasmin Nosrati killed by husband in so-called “honor” crime

Yasmin Nosrati, a 20-year-old woman from Shahrud in Semnan Province, was strangled to death by her husband in a so-called ”“honor”-motivated murder.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the crime occurred on Saturday, May 17, 2025, in the Amiriyeh recreational area of the city.
The victim’s 26-year-old husband used a belt to carry out the murder. He fled the scene but was later arrested by authorities.
State-affiliated news agency Rokna, which did not identify the victim by name, confirmed she died from neck injuries caused by strangulation, despite being taken to a hospital.
During interrogation, the husband confessed to the killing, stating that he suspected his wife of infidelity and drove her to a remote area on the outskirts of Shahrud before murdering her.
