Hengaw– Thursday, July 24, 2025

More than three weeks after his arrest, Amin Karimi—a Kurdish stage actor and artist from Urmia—remains in detention with no information available about his fate or legal status. Karimi had previously been arrested during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” (Woman, Life, Freedom) movement.

According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, 23 days have passed since Karimi’s arrest, and all efforts by his family to obtain information about his condition have been met with silence from Iranian intelligence authorities.

A source close to the family confirmed that Karimi is currently being held in the Urmia Intelligence Detention Center, where he is under interrogation. His social media accounts are believed to be under the control of Iranian security forces.

Karimi has been denied basic legal rights, including access to a lawyer and the ability to contact or meet with his family.

He was arrested on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the Sarv border crossing while returning from Turkey.

This is not Karimi’s first encounter with the authorities—he was also detained during the nationwide protests linked to the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising.

There is still no official information regarding the reasons for his arrest, the charges against him, or his current whereabouts.
