Hossein Vahedi, retired teacher and activist, sent to prison in Bojnurd

Hossein Vahedi, also known as Dariush Ashkani, a retired teacher and board member of the North Khorasan Teachers' Trade Association, has been arrested and transferred to Bojnurd Central Prison to begin serving a one-year sentence.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Vahedi, who also serves as the inspector of the association, was recently detained to serve a prison term issued against him earlier this year.

In early January 2025, Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Bojnurd sentenced him to one year in prison on charges of “propaganda against the state.”

Previously, in mid-November 2023, Vahedi had also been sentenced to one year in prison by Branch 103 of Bojnurd’s Criminal Court (Section Two) on charges of “spreading false information.” That sentence had been suspended for a period of three years.
