Fifty days after the disappearance of Kubra Rezai (also known as Shaghayegh), a 26-year-old Afghan refugee woman, parts of her mutilated body were discovered in Tehran. To date, no clear or official information has been released by Iranian authorities regarding the details of this horrific murder.

According to verified reports, on the evening of Tuesday, June 3, 2025, residents found severed body parts of Kubra Rezai — a resident of Pishva, Varamin — among piles of trash. DNA tests have confirmed her identity. Kubra was abducted on her way to work, after leaving her home and subsequently murdered.

As of now, other body parts, her mobile phone, and identification documents have not been recovered.

Despite the passage of several days since the gruesome discovery, Iran’s criminal investigation authorities have withheld detailed information from the victim’s family. So far, they have only announced the arrest of two suspects, without providing any clarification regarding their identity or their connection to the case.

Furthermore, according to informed sources who spoke with Hengaw, on Saturday, June 7, 2025, as the victim’s family was preparing for her burial, government forces intervened to prevent the funeral from taking place. Authorities have still not issued an official burial permit for Kubra’s body, adding to the grief and emotional trauma of her bereaved family.
