Kurdish cleric Mamosta Zana Hosseini arrested in Javanrud

Security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran have arrested Kurdish religious activist and cleric Mamosta Zana Hosseini, the imam of a village mosque in Javanrud.

According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Hosseini, who serves as the imam of Turke-pan village near Javanrud, was detained five days ago, and his whereabouts remain unknown.

Sources informed Hengaw that following his arrest, Hosseini was transferred from Javanrud to a security detention facility in Kermanshah (Kermashan).

Hengaw has also learned that Hosseini has been suffering from poor health for the past two years and is unable to endure prolonged detention.

Security forces raided Hosseini’s home and arrested him at around 3 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025. No information has been made available regarding the reasons for his arrest, the charges against him, or his current condition.
