Hengaw – Saturday, July 26, 2025

At least nine people were killed and 22 others injured in two consecutive armed attacks targeting the courthouse building in Zahedan, the capital of Sistan and Baluchestan Province.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the attacks took place at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025. Gunmen opened fire at the courthouse, resulting in casualties among both sides of the conflict as well as among civilians.

Mizan News Agency, the official outlet of Iran’s judiciary, reported that four government personnel were killed, along with a woman and her child. State-affiliated media also reported the deaths of three members of the armed group Jaish al-Adl.

Eyewitnesses stated that the woman and her child were not within the courthouse compound but were killed by government forces on a nearby street. However, government sources have not addressed this claim.

Jaish al-Adl has claimed responsibility for the attack in an official statement, asserting that the operation was carried out in retaliation for what it described as "judicial oppression against Balochs."

The assault began with the attackers storming the courthouse building and continued with mortar fire targeting areas where government forces were gathered.
