Eight Prisoners executed in Mashhad, Saveh, Nour, Semnan, and Malayer Prisons

The death sentences of eight prisoners, convicted separately on charges of murder and drug-related offenses, were carried out in multiple prisons across Iran. The executed prisoners were identified as Ali Shokat, Farzad Yari, Jahanshah Iravani, Hamidreza Soroush, Reza Sarparast, Davood Najibollahi, Bahman Pirouzaei, and Mohammad Golestani.
According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, Ali Shokat, 34, from Saveh, was executed in Saveh Central Prison. He had been arrested four years ago for murder and sentenced to death.
On the same day, Farzad Yari was executed in Malayer Prison on murder charges.
Also on Tuesday, four prisoners—Davood Najibollahi, 40; Bahman Pirouzaei, 30; Mohammad Golestani, 30; and Reza Sarparast, 30—were executed in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad. They had been convicted together in a joint case on drug-related charges four years ago.
In Semnan, Jahanshah Iravani was executed in the city’s central prison. He had been sentenced to death on drug-related charges.
A day earlier, on Monday, August 4, 2025, Hamidreza Soroush, a prisoner from Tehran, was executed in Nour Prison, Mazandaran Province. He had been arrested five years ago for the acid attack and murder of his wife, leading to his death sentence.
None of these executions have been announced by Iranian state media or judiciary-affiliated outlets.
