Execution of an Arab prisoner and two others carried out in Ahvaz and Shiraz

The death sentences of three prisoners, identified as Mohammad Beqlani, Ahmad Younesi, and Mehdi Najafi, who had previously been arrested on charges of premeditated murder and drug-related offenses, were carried out in the prisons of Ahvaz and Shiraz.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution of an Arab prisoner, Mohammad Beqlani, was carried out at dawn on Sunday, August 17, 2025, in Sepidar Prison, Ahvaz. He had been arrested nine years earlier on a charge of premeditated murder and sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary.

On the same day, the executions of two other prisoners, identified as Ahmad Younesi and Mehdi Najafi, residents of Shiraz and Marvdasht in Fars Province, were carried out in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz.

Younesi and Najafi had been arrested five years earlier on drug-related charges and sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary.

The executions of these three prisoners have not been announced by state media, particularly those affiliated with the judiciary.
