Labor activist Mehdi Jahangiri re-arrested in Tehran

Labor activist Mehdi Jahangiri has once again been arrested by agents of Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence in Tehran and transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Jahangiri, 35, was detained at his workplace in Tehran on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

No details are available regarding the reasons for his arrest or the charges brought against him.

Jahangiri was previously arrested on December 16, 2024, after participating in protests over power outages in Tehran’s Golgoun Industrial Town. He was later released.
