Zahedan: Baloch man Mirza Rahmat-zehi sentenced to 12 years in prison

Mirza Rahmat-zehi, a 24-year-old Baloch man from Sarbaz in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, has been sentenced by the Revolutionary Court in Zahedan to 12 years in prison.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Rahmat-zehi, from the Ahuran Tangsar district of Sarbaz County, was sentenced by Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court in Zahedan, presided over by Judge Sarhadi, on charges of “collaboration with armed groups.”

The local news outlet Halvash reported that the verdict was based on forced confessions extracted under torture following his arrest. He was accused of alleged “collaboration with Baloch armed groups, including Jaish al-Adl.”

Rahmat-zehi was arrested in September 2024 at his workplace in the city of Kalat by agents of the IRGC Intelligence Organization and has remained in detention since.
