Iranian security forces fatally shoot Ibrahim Maleki in Lamerd

Iranian security forces have fatally shot Ibrahim Maleki, a 30-year-old resident of Lamerd in Fars Province, during a pursuit on suspicion of transporting contraband goods.

Hengaw Organization for Human Rights has learned that on the evening of Friday, September 12, 2025, Maleki, from the village of Deh Sheikh in Lamerd County, was wounded by gunfire from officers of the Intelligence Unit of FARAJA, Iran’s national police. He died shortly after being taken to hospital.

Sources reported that Maleki was chased on suspicion of carrying smuggled goods and was struck by bullets during the pursuit.

Following the incident, residents of Deh Sheikh blocked the road leading to the village and gathered outside the hospital where Maleki had been admitted to protest his killing.
