Davoud Mostofi arrested after attending memorial for slain January protester

Davoud Mostofi, a Lor resident of Likak (Bahmai) County, has been arrested by Iranian security forces after attending a memorial and birthday gathering for Habib Khoubipour, who was killed during the January 2026 protests. Mostofi was subsequently transferred to Dehdasht Prison.
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Mostofi, from Likak in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province, was arrested by security forces on August 23, 2026.
Sources familiar with the case said Mostofi was arrested following his participation in a gathering marking the birthday and commemorating the death of Habib Khoubipour and was subsequently transferred to Dehdasht Central Prison.
Khoubipour was shot with live ammunition by Iranian security forces during protests in the Malekshahr neighborhood of Isfahan on the evening of January 8, 2026. He died several days later after being hospitalized for his injuries.
