Femicide – Husband kills Soraya Alimohammadi by setting her on fire in Saqqez

A 35-year-old woman, Soraya Alimohammadi, died after her husband set her on fire at their home in the Baharestan neighborhood of Saqqez, Kurdistan Province.

According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the husband, identified as Afshin, 40, from Kahrizeh, tied Alimohammadi’s hands and feet after an argument, poured gasoline over her in the parking area of their residence, and set her alight.

Neighbors rushed Alimohammadi to a medical facility, but she succumbed to the severity of her burns.

Local sources confirmed that the perpetrator was arrested shortly after the incident.
