Woman and her father shot dead by ex-husband in Saqqez

A woman and her father were shot dead by the woman’s former husband in the city of Saqqez while accompanying police officers to enforce a court order.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Freshteh Rahmanzadeh, a mother of two from the village of Khordeh Luki in the Sarshiv district of Saqqez, and her father, Ali Rahmanzadeh, were fatally shot on July 13, 2026.

Sources familiar with the case said the killings took place at a garden house on the old Saqqez–Marivan road that belonged to the suspect.

The suspect, identified as 45-year-old Salah Farajpour from the village of Kavmaleh in the Sarshiv district of Saqqez, opened fire when Rahmanzadeh, her father and four police officers arrived to enforce a court order and transfer property that had been awarded to Rahmanzadeh under a court ruling.

Following the couple’s divorce, a court in Saqqez had awarded Rahmanzadeh full entitlement to her dower as well as custody of the couple’s two children.
