Iran continues to detain Adnan Tawfiq from the Kurdistan Region without charge

Adnan Tawfiq, a Kurdish man from the Kurdistan Region, was arrested during the twelve-day conflict between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Israel and has been arbitrarily detained for more than three months at Sanandaj (Sine) Central Prison.

According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Tawfiq, who holds Iraqi nationality, remains without formal charges or access to legal representation, and his legal status continues to be unclear.

He was reportedly arrested by agents of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organization while visiting Iran during the Iran–Israel military confrontation.

Throughout his detention, Tawfiq has been denied basic due process guarantees, including the right to contact his family or lawyer, and has been held in undisclosed and restrictive conditions.

Hengaw has learned that he was recently transferred from an IRGC Intelligence detention facility in Sanandaj to the political ward of Sanandaj Central Prison.
