PJAK member and another man killed in ambush by Iranian intelligence and IRGC forces

A member of the military wing of the Free Life Party of Kurdistan (PJAK), Mohammad Hossein Rashid, from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and another man accompanying him whose identity has not yet been confirmed, were killed in a joint ambush by Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the city of Marivan.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Mohammad Hossein Rashid, a member of the Eastern Kurdistan Units (YRK) and a native of Chamchamal in the Kurdistan Region, was traveling with another man in a Peugeot Pars vehicle when government forces opened fire at Mosk Junction in Marivan, killing both men. The incident took place on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
Hengaw has further learned that another individual who was injured during the attack was transferred to Fajr Hospital in Marivan. After two days of hospitalization, he was taken to an undisclosed location, and his fate remains unknown.
In a statement, the YRK said that Mohammad Hossein Rashid was "unarmed and returning to the Kurdistan Region for medical treatment when he came under attack." The group did not provide details about the identity of the detained man.
According to Hengaw’s sources, on the same day, IRGC intelligence agents seized all CCTV footage from nearby shops in the area where the incident occurred.
