Hengaw – Sunday, October 12, 2025

Mohammadzaman Kamrava, one of those previously detained during the Social Security retirees’ protests in Ahvaz, was arrested again by the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and taken to an undisclosed location.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, IRGC intelligence agents raided Kamrava’s home in Ahvaz, arresting him and transferring him to an unknown location on Saturday, October 11, 2025.

Sources told Hengaw that several hours after losing contact with him, Kamrava’s family discovered his home in disarray and realized he had been detained. Hours later, he made a brief phone call confirming his arrest by IRGC intelligence forces.

Kamrava was summoned to Branch 13 of the Ahvaz Prosecutor’s Office on October 7, along with retired teacher Mohammad Nowchian and sports instructor Maryam Zalki, to present their final defense in a case involving the charges of “propaganda against the regime” and “assembly and collusion against national security.”

Earlier this year, Branch 2 of the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court sentenced Kamrava to two years in prison on charges of “assembly and collusion to commit crimes against internal and external security” and “propaganda against the regime.”

This case was opened following his participation in a protest held in February 2022 by Social Security retirees in front of the organization’s office in Ahvaz.

Kamrava was previously arrested on May 1, 2024, after another retirees’ protest in Ahvaz and was released shortly afterward.
