Tehran Revolutionary Court sentences political prisoner Shahin Zoqi-Tabar to 10 years

Shahin Zoqi-Tabar, a political prisoner currently held in Great Tehran Penitentiary, has been sentenced by the Revolutionary Court in Tehran to 10 years in prison on political charges.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari, recently convicted Zoqi-Tabar on charges of “membership in the People’s Mojahedin Organization (MEK)," “spreading falsehoods,” “propaganda against the state,” and “insulting the Supreme Leader.” The ruling was issued on August 16, 2025 following a court hearing.

Zoqi-Tabar was arrested on July 24, 2025 at his home in the Briank neighborhood of Tehran by security forces and later transferred to Great Tehran Penitentiary.

He had previously served a five-year prison sentence in Rajai Shahr Prison, Karaj, after being convicted of “assembly and collusion through collaboration with the MEK". He was released in 2017 after completing that term.
