Eight prisoners executed across Iran, including two Afghan nationals

Eight prisoners, including two Afghan nationals whose identities remain under review, have been executed in the prisons of Birjand, Bojnurd, Esfarayen, Dorud, Malayer and Shiraz. Those executed were Saeed Jokar, Mohammad Javad Rashidi, Armin Shekari, Nima Goodarzi, Khodakaram Mardani, Ahmad Navabi, and two Afghan nationals. All had been convicted on charges including “premeditated murder” and “drug-related offences”.
Based on information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Jokar was executed at Birjand Prison in South Khorasan after being sentenced to death for “drug-related offences”. His execution took place in the early hours of Tuesday, 18 November 2025.
In Birjand Prison in North Khorasan, Rashidi was also executed on the same day. According to informed sources, he had been arrested on “drug-related charges” before receiving a death sentence from the judiciary.
Executions continued at Esfarayen Prison in North Khorasan, where Shekari and two Afghan nationals were put to death. Their identities remain under review, and all three had been convicted on “drug-related charges”.
At Dorud Prison in Lorestan, Goodarzi was executed after being convicted of “premeditated murder”. His execution took place on Monday, 17 November 2025.
That same day, Mardani, who had also been convicted of “premeditated murder”, was executed at Malayer Prison in Hamadan Province.
In a separate case, Navabi, 29, from Jahrom in Fars Province, was executed at Adelabad Prison in Shiraz. His execution, carried out at dawn on Thursday, 13 November 2025, followed five years of imprisonment after being arrested on “murder” charges.
The executions have not been reported by state-run media, including outlets affiliated with Iran’s judiciary.
