Iran executes ten prisoners, including four Afghans, in multiple prisons

Iranian authorities have executed ten prisoners, including four Afghan nationals, in Ghezel Hesar, Qom, Yazd, Aligudarz, Kermanshah (Kermashan), and Borazjan prisons. The executions were carried out in separate cases involving convictions for drug-related offenses and premeditated murder.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on September 4 Reza Aghajani, 39, and an unidentified Afghan national were executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj. Aghajani, sentenced to death on drug charges, had been transferred to solitary confinement the night before. The Afghan prisoner had been convicted of murder.
That same day, Ebrahim Safari (Mingal), 22, a Baloch prisoner from Zahedan residing in Yazd, was executed in Yazd Central Prison. Arrested four years earlier on murder charges, Safari had been allowed a final visit with his family the day before. His father, Ebrahim Safarzayi, had also been executed in the same prison four years ago on drug-related charges.
On September 3, four men were put to death in Qom Central Prison: Mehrdad Iravani and three Afghan nationals – Rouhollah Hakemi, 54, Nezam Hakemi, 23, and Allahbakhsh Mirjahani, 44. Iravani had been convicted on drug charges, while the three Afghans, who were relatives arrested two years ago, were executed on similar charges.
On September 2, Yaqub Derikvand, a Lor prisoner from Khorramabad, was executed in Aligudarz Prison, Lorestan Province, after being convicted of murder four years earlier. On the same day, Jalal Moradi, a Kurdish prisoner from Kermanshah, was executed in Dizelabad Prison on murder charges.
The wave of executions began on August 31, when Emad Qaedi, from Borazjan, was executed in Borazjan Prison, Bushehr Province, following a murder conviction.
None of these executions have been reported by Iranian state media, including outlets affiliated with the judiciary.
