Iran executes eight prisoners in Ghezel Hesar, Gachsaran, Bushehr, Ahvaz, and Jiroft

The death sentences of eight prisoners, including one Afghan national, were carried out in recent days in Ghezel Hesar, Gachsaran, Bushehr, Ahvaz, and Jiroft prisons. The prisoners had been convicted in separate cases on charges of premeditated murder or drug-related offenses. Those executed were identified as Sajad Sadeqi, Habib Ataei, Naser (surname unknown), A.F., Valiollah Avazpour, Ammar Hosseini, Seyed Ahmad Navabi, and an Afghan national whose identity has not yet been established.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, three prisoners — Sajad Sadeqi, 42, from Kuhdasht; Habib Ataei; and Naser (surname unknown) — were executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj, on drug-related charges.
On the same day, Valiollah Avazpour, a Lor prisoner from Gachsaran and father of one child, was executed in Gachsaran Central Prison, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province. He had been arrested 13 years earlier and later sentenced to death for premeditated murder. Also on September 3, a prisoner identified only as A.F. was executed. According to the state-run Rokna news agency, he had been arrested two years earlier for the murder of a man named Amir Reza during a street altercation and subsequently sentenced to death. Rokna did not specify the prison in which the execution took place.
Separately, on Tuesday, September 2, an unidentified Afghan national was executed in Bushehr Central Prison. According to the state-run Mehr News Agency, he had been convicted of killing police officer Sajjad Jafari during a confrontation. The report did not disclose his identity.
Earlier, on Sunday, August 31, Ammar Hosseini, 27, an Arab prisoner from Khuzestan, was executed in Sepidar Prison, Ahvaz. He had been arrested three years earlier on murder charges.
On Monday, August 11, Seyed Ahmad Navabi, from Jiroft in Kerman Province, was executed in Jiroft Central Prison after being convicted of premeditated murder.
While two of the executions were reported by state-controlled media, the remaining cases have not been publicly acknowledged by Iranian authorities, including judiciary-affiliated outlets.
