Hengaw — Friday, November 21, 2025

Kourosh Jalil, a Lor civil activist from Yasuj, has been detained to serve a 15-month prison sentence and transferred to the city’s central prison.

Based on information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the arrest and transfer took place on Thursday, November 20, 2025, after Jalil, 44, was taken into custody by security forces and brought before the prosecutor’s office in Yasuj. He was then transferred to Yasuj Central Prison to begin serving his sentence.

Jalil had earlier been sentenced by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Yasuj. He received one year, three months, and one day in prison on a charge of “insulting Khomeini and Ali Khamenei,” and ten months on a charge of “propaganda against the state.”

According to the verdict, the court applied the principle of the most severe punishment, making the 15-month-and-one-day sentence enforceable.

In a separate case last year, Jalil was sentenced by Branch 101 of the Boyer-Ahmad Criminal Court to three years in prison on charges that included “propaganda against the state,” “insulting the Supreme Leader,” “insulting the founder of the Islamic Republic,” “unlawful assembly,” and “insulting Islamic sanctities.”

Jalil was also detained on May 24, 2024, following the death of Ebrahim Raisi, when agents of the Ministry of Intelligence in Yasuj arrested him violently and threatened him with death. He was held in solitary confinement for 33 days before being released.

He had previously been arrested on May 12, 2022, during protests by teachers and retirees in Yasuj. He was transferred to the local prison and later released on bail.
