Hengaw – Saturday, November 22, 2025

Pariya Marandiz, a Baha’i resident of Tehran, has been arrested to begin serving her prison sentence.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Marandiz was detained on Saturday, November 22, 2025, and transferred to Evin Prison to serve her sentence.

Earlier, on Monday, September 22, 2025, Branch 23 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced her to three years in prison and two years of prohibition from online activities on the charge of “propaganda against the state.”

Under the ruling, the most severe portion of the sentence—two years of imprisonment—is enforceable, while 18 months of the term has been suspended for five years.

The verdict was issued in connection with allegations of conducting propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran during the 12-day war between Israel and Iran.

Her interrogation session took place on August 16, 2025, at Branch 3 of the Prosecutor’s Office of District 33 in Tehran, after which she was temporarily released on 3.5 billion tomans bail.

Following the outbreak of the 12-day conflict, Marandiz was repeatedly summoned and interrogated by security agencies.

She was also briefly arrested on June 17, 2025, during which security forces searched her home and confiscated numerous personal belongings, including books, religious photographs, laptops, and mobile phones belonging to her and her family.
