Sheyda Azizi receives a three-year prison sentence in Sanandaj
Hengaw — Thursday, November 27, 2025
Sheyda Azizi, a Kurdish woman from Kamyaran who has spent the past six months in detention, has been sentenced to three years in prison by the Iranian judiciary. Azizi was arrested during the twelve-day conflict between Iran and Israel.
Information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights shows that earlier this autumn, Branch One of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court convicted Azizi on the charge of “acting against national security through membership in the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan.”
She was detained in Kamyaran amid the twelve-day war between the Israeli army and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and was later transferred to the women’s ward of Sanandaj Central Prison, which state media refer to as the “Sanandaj Correction and Rehabilitation Center.”
Hengaw has also learned that throughout her detention, Azizi was denied access to legal counsel and was not permitted visits or phone calls with her family.
