Hengaw – Monday, December 1, 2025

Newly obtained information confirms that Fatemeh Karpardaz, a 30-year-old woman from Bandar Abbas, was shot dead by her husband, Mohsen Haghighi, who also killed another man before taking his own life. The murders were committed under the pretext of what the perpetrator described as “protecting honor.”

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the incident took place on the evening of Friday, November 28, 2025, inside the couple’s residence on Pardis 3 Street in Bandar Abbas.

Haghighi, 33, shot his wife after encountering her at home with a 35-year-old man, whom he subsequently stabbed and then shot, killing him as well. Haghighi then used the same firearm to take his own life.

Sources told Hengaw that both Karpardaz and the perpetrator were buried on Monday in their hometown.

State-affiliated media have characterized the incident as a “family dispute,” a framing that aligns with broader attempts to obscure gender-based violence and the structural conditions that enable so-called “honor killings” in Iran.
