Translator and former political prisoner Keyvan Mohtadi arrested again in Tehran

Keyvan Mohtadi, a translator and former political prisoner, has been arrested again by security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Tehran and transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Mohtadi, a resident of Tehran, was detained at his home before noon on Monday, November 10, 2025, by Iranian security agents.

There is no information regarding the reasons for his arrest, the charges against him, or his current whereabouts.

Mohtadi, who is also known as a labor-rights activist, was previously arrested on May 9, 2022, and later sentenced to three years and seven months in prison. He was released from Evin Prison on September 1, 2024, after completing his sentence.

His wife, Anisha Abdollahi, is currently serving a three-year prison sentence in Evin Prison.
