Hengaw - Sunday, December 21, 2025

Iranian government forces arrested Farshad Faraji, a Kurdish resident of Takab, to enforce a prison sentence of one year and two months and transferred him to Miandoab Central Prison.

Information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights indicates that the arrest took place on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, after Faraji visited a bank to follow up on his bank accounts, which had been blocked following the issuance of an arrest order. He was detained at the bank to begin serving his sentence and transferred to Miandoab Central Prison.

Faraji had been sentenced in late autumn 2025 by the Revolutionary Court in Takab, presided over by Judge “Hazrati,” on charges of “propaganda against the state” and “insulting Khamenei,” receiving a total sentence of one year and two months in prison.

He was previously arrested on May 19, 2025, during a raid by Iranian government forces on his home, where he was detained with violence and without the presentation of any judicial warrant. During the raid, the forces searched his residence and confiscated his mobile phone, which has not been returned.

Faraji was released temporarily on May 21, 2025, after three days in detention, following the posting of bail set at three billion tomans. After his release, he was summoned and interrogated multiple times by security agencies.
