Kurdish village council member Karim Rasouli arrested in Mahabad

Karim Rasouli, a Kurdish man from the village of Inderqash in Mahabad County, has been arrested by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence and taken to an undisclosed location.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Intelligence Ministry agents arrested Rasouli on a street in Mahabad on August 18, 2026, without presenting a warrant.

Rasouli is a member of the village council of Inderqash, located in the Sharviran district of Mahabad County.

No information is available regarding the reason for his arrest, the charges against him or his place of detention.
