No information on fate of detained Kurdish man in Oshnavieh after three weeks

Three weeks after his arrest, the fate and whereabouts of Esmail Seyedmahmoudian remain unknown, raising serious concerns over his condition. Seyedmahmoudian is a Kurdish resident of Oshnavieh (Shno).

Information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights indicates that Seyedmahmoudian, a 45-year-old employee of the Jihad Agriculture Office in Oshnavieh, has been held for 21 days following his arrest by government forces and has been denied access to a lawyer, family visits, and phone contact throughout this period.

According to informed sources, he has been transferred for interrogation to one of the security detention facilities in Urmia.

Efforts by his family to obtain information about his fate and place of detention have been unsuccessful, with relevant authorities refusing to provide any explanation.

Esmail Seyedmahmoudian was arrested on the evening of Wednesday, December 3, 2025, by Intelligence Ministry forces in Oshnavieh Coastal Park, in the presence of his family. He was detained without the presentation of a judicial warrant and with the use of violence.
