Iran sentences five detainees from the Iran–Israel war to a combined 47 years in prison

Five Lor political defendants from Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, Feyzollah Azarnoush, Milad Kariminasab, Amirhossein Mohsenipour, Mahdi Karami and Hamidreza Dastavaneh, have been sentenced to a combined 47 years in prison in a joint case issued by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran. They were arrested during the 12-day Iran–Israel war and were later released on bail.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Branch 102 of the Dehdasht Criminal Court, presided over by Karim Reysi, sentenced Azarnoush, a member of a justice-seeking family and the father of Pedram Azarnoush, one of those killed during the “Jin Jiyan Azadi” movement, to 23 years in prison. Kariminasab, from Choram, received 11 years, Mohsenipour, from Dehdasht, received 8 years, Karami, from Suq, received 5 years, and Dastavaneh, from Dehdasht, received 1 year.
The charges brought against them include “insulting the Supreme Leader”, “propaganda against the state”, “insulting Islamic sanctities”, “forming or participating in a group with the intention of disrupting national security”, “encouraging citizens to commit crimes against internal and external security”, “propaganda on social media in support of or strengthening Israel”, and “spreading falsehoods through computers”.
The five were arrested during the wave of mass detentions that followed the Iran–Israel war and were later released from Dehdasht Prison on temporary bail pending judicial proceedings.
Azarnoush, a member of a justice-seeking family and father of Pedram Azarnoush, was arrested in Yasuj on June 18, 2025. He was transferred to Yasuj Central Prison on June 23 following interrogations.
Karami, a resident of Suq, was also arrested on June 18, 2025.
Kariminasab, from Choram, had been arrested earlier on June 11, 2025.
Mohsenipour, from Dehdasht, was detained on June 23, 2025, by government forces. He was initially held in the local Intelligence Office and was later transferred to Dehdasht Prison after interrogation. He had previously been arrested during the 2009 and 2019 protests.
Dastavaneh was arrested in the middle of the 12-day war. He had also been arrested in September 2023 and was later sentenced by the Revolutionary Court of Yasuj to 10 months in prison on charges of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran”.
