Leyla Azari murdered by her former husband in a femicide case in Bukan

Leyla Azari, a young woman from Shahin Dezh, was killed in Bukan by her former husband after she rejected his repeated attempts to remarry her.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Azari, a 39-year-old woman from Agh Tapeh village in Shahin Dezh (Sayinqala) who was living in Bukan, was killed on Saturday, 6 December 2025, when her former husband struck her several times on the head with a stone.

Her body was later found in the village of Kani Allaseyda in Bukan County. She had one daughter from her first marriage and was her sole guardian. To support her family, she worked in a restaurant in Bukan.

Sources close to the family told Hengaw that Azari divorced her second husband after he married another woman. Later when he separated from his second wife, the victim refused to return to the marriage. Over the past two years, he repeatedly used violence in attempts to force her into remarriage. After she rejected him once again, he attacked her with a stone and killed her.

Following the discovery of her body, the perpetrator was arrested and confessed to the murder.
