Kurdish man Amir Ali Jalilian dies from protest injuries in Islamabad-e Gharb

Amir Ali Jalilian, a Kurdish man from Islamabad-e Gharb (Shabad) in Kermanshah Province, has died after being shot by Iranian government forces during protests in the city.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Jalilian, a 65-year-old truck driver, succumbed to the severity of his gunshot wounds at a hospital five days after the shooting. He was injured during protests on January 9.

Sources close to the Jalilian family told Hengaw that government authorities pressured the family to attribute his killing to Kurdistan political parties, a demand the family refused.

The same sources added that security authorities demanded 700 million tomans from the family in exchange for releasing Jalilian’s body.
