Majid Daryaei arrested to serve prison sentence

Majid Daryaei, a Kurdish man from Oshnavieh (Shno), has been arrested to serve a one-year prison sentence and transferred to the city’s central prison.

Based on information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Daryaei was summoned by Branch One of the Criminal Sentences Enforcement Office of the Oshnavieh Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office. He was arrested to begin serving his sentence on Sunday, January 18, 2026, and subsequently transferred to Oshnavieh Central Prison.

He was sentenced to one year of discretionary imprisonment by Branch 101 of the Oshnavieh Criminal Court II on the charge of “propaganda activities in favor of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran.”

He had earlier been summoned to Branch One of the Assistant Prosecutor’s Office of the Oshnavieh Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office, where he was formally charged and temporarily released on bail pending trial, on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.

Daryaei has also been arrested on prior occasions in connection with his activities and has faced repeated detention and prolonged security pressure by Iranian government institutions.
