Kurdish man Hossein Sherkol killed by Iranian forces during protests in Isfahan

Hossein Sherkol, a Kurdish man from Zarrinabad (Pehleh), a town in Dehloran County, Ilam Province, was killed during last week’s protests in the city of Isfahan after being shot by Iranian government forces.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Hossein Sherkol was killed on the evening of Thursday, January 8, 2025, during protests in Isfahan, after being directly targeted by Iranian government forces.
A knowledgeable source told Hengaw that Sherkol was shot at close range with a Kalashnikov rifle by forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The source added that Sherkol’s family was able to retrieve his body after five days, and that his funeral is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, January 14, in Zarrinabad.
