Yaser Hashemi faces prolonged detention and serious health risks in Shiraz

Yaser Hashemi, a resident of Shiraz in Fars Province, was arrested by the Intelligence Ministry during the recent protests and remains in a state of legal uncertainty. Despite suffering from a respiratory illness, he continues to be held in the Intelligence Ministry detention center in Shiraz.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Hashemi has spent the past 55 days in detention, first in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz and subsequently in the Intelligence Ministry detention facility in the city.

A source familiar with the matter stated that after 50 days in Adelabad Prison, Hashemi was transferred on February 22, 2026, to the Intelligence Ministry detention center in Shiraz. No information has since been made available about his situation.

The source added that Hashemi suffers from a respiratory illness, and pressure exerted on him to obtain a forced confession poses a serious threat to his health.

Yaser Hashemi was arrested on Thursday, January 1, 2026, on Maaliabad Street in Shiraz by agents of the Intelligence Ministry.
