Baha’i couple arrested in Shiraz using violence and deception
Hengaw – Monday, March 30, 2026
Behzad Yazdani and Romina Khazali, two Baha’i residents of Shiraz, were arrested by intelligence forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Authorities used violence and deception in carrying out the arrests.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Romina Khazali was arrested at her parents’ home in Shiraz on Sunday, March 29, 2026.
During the arrest, her young daughter was subjected to interrogation, and her 14-year-old son experienced breathing difficulties following a panic attack.
Behzad Yazdani, Khazali’s husband, was arrested a day earlier, on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at his home located on the lower floor of his in-laws’ residence in Shiraz. He was transferred the following day to Adelabad Prison.
According to an informed source, intelligence forces first entered the home of Yazdani’s in-laws and compelled them to call him back by falsely claiming that a thief was on their rooftop. Upon his return, he was arrested by security forces.
