Youssef Karimi detained in Bukan, whereabouts unknown days after arrest

Iranian government forces have detained a Kurdish man, Youssef Karimi, in Bukan, and his whereabouts remain unknown nearly a week after his arrest, according to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.

Karimi was arrested on April 3, 2026, after intelligence agents raided his home in Bukan without presenting a warrant.

Sources said government forces searched the residence and confiscated some of his personal belongings during the arrest.

Karimi, who is married, was taken to an undisclosed location. Efforts by his family to obtain information about his condition and place of detention have so far been unsuccessful.

Authorities have not disclosed the reasons for his detention or any charges against him.
