Hengaw — Friday, April 10, 2026
Iranian government forces have detained Ali Ardaneh, an injured protester from Behbahan, and his whereabouts remain unknown nearly a month after his arrest.
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Ardaneh, a Lor man from Khuzestan province, was arrested on March 17, 2026, when Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces raided his family home and detained him using violence.
Ardaneh had previously been wounded during the January 2026 protests after being struck by pellet gunfire. He was still recovering from his injuries and had recently undergone surgery to remove pellets at the time of his arrest, according to sources.
Family efforts to obtain information about his condition and place of detention have been unsuccessful, and authorities have not disclosed the reasons for his arrest or any charges against him.
Ardaneh had previously been detained during the protests and was later released before his re-arrest.
