Sixteen days on, no information on detained activist Hemin Hosseini

Sixteen days after the arrest of Hemin Hosseini, a Kurdish activist from Saqqez and a former political prisoner, no information is available regarding his fate or whereabouts, heightening concern among his family.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Hosseini was arrested on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, after being summoned to the Intelligence Office in Saqqez and was taken to an undisclosed location.

Hengaw has learned that repeated efforts by his family to obtain information about his legal status and place of detention have so far gone unanswered. No reliable information is available regarding his condition or whereabouts.

Hemin Hosseini has previously been arrested several times because of his activities. He was most recently detained earlier this year and had been released only a short time before being arrested again.

He has also twice been sentenced to imprisonment in recent years and was released from Saqqez Central Prison after serving those sentences.
