Authorities arrest university student Amirhossein Sheikhmohammadi in Karaj

Iranian authorities have arrested Amirhossein Sheikhmohammadi, a veterinary student at Islamic Azad University’s Karaj branch, and transferred him to an undisclosed location.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, security forces arrested Sheikhmohammadi in Karaj on the morning of Monday, May 18, 2026.

Informed sources stated that the student was arrested without the presentation of a warrant.

Authorities have not disclosed the reasons for his arrest, the charges against him, or where he is currently being held.
