Hengaw – Wednesday, May 27, 2026
More than two weeks after the arrest of Pezhman Hajizadeh, a Kurdish man from Bukan, by forces affiliated with Iran’s Intelligence Ministry, no information has been made available regarding his fate or legal status.
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Intelligence Ministry agents raided Hajizadeh’s home in Bukan on the evening of Tuesday, May 12, 2026, and arrested him without presenting a court warrant or legal authorization.
During the raid, security forces searched the residence and confiscated several personal belongings.
Pezhman Hajizadeh is married, the father of two children, and works as a cabinetmaker. He is originally from the village of Gamishgoli and currently lives in Bukan. Following his arrest, he was transferred to an Intelligence Ministry detention facility in Urmia for interrogation.
According to an informed source, Hajizadeh has been permitted only a single brief phone call with his family since his detention. Due to the close presence and supervision of security agents during the call, he was unable to provide any information regarding the charges against him or the conditions of his detention.
Repeated efforts by his family to obtain information from judicial and security authorities in Bukan and Urmia have so far yielded no results, while officials continue to refuse to provide clear answers regarding his whereabouts and condition.
