Baha’i adherent Riyaz Behrad arrested in Karaj

Two days after the arrest of Riyaz Behrad, a Baha’i resident of Karaj, no information has been made available regarding his whereabouts or condition.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Behrad was arrested on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, after appearing at the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Karaj following a summons. He was subsequently transferred to an undisclosed location.

Sources told Hengaw that government forces had previously raided his home on Monday, May 4, conducting a full search of the residence and confiscating several personal belongings and electronic devices.

No information has been provided regarding the exact reasons for his arrest, the charges against him or the authority responsible for his detention.
