Amir Yousofi transferred to Urmia after arrest by intelligence agents in Bukan

Iranian intelligence forces arrested Amir Yousofi, a Kurdish resident of Bukan, and transferred him a day later to a detention facility operated by the Intelligence Department in Urmia.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Intelligence Department agents arrested Yousofi, a resident of the village of Salamat in Bukan County, on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

Informed sources stated that government forces detained Yousofi without presenting a warrant while he was in Bukan. He was initially held at a detention facility in the city before being transferred the following day to one of the Intelligence Department’s detention centers in Urmia for further interrogation.

The reasons for his arrest, the charges against him, and his exact place of detention in Urmia remain unknown. Repeated efforts by Yousofi’s family to obtain information about his legal status and condition have so far been unsuccessful, as authorities continue to refuse to provide clear answers.
