Two Kurdish men arrested by Iranian security forces in Bukan and Miandoab, whereabouts unknown

Two Kurdish men, Mohammad Hajizadeh and Omid Chawbaz, have been arrested by Iranian security forces in Bukan and Miandoab and taken to undisclosed locations.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Omid Chawbaz, a 45-year-old man from Bukan, was arrested by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence at around 1 a.m. on August 14, 2026.

Chawbaz was arrested during a raid on his home without the presentation of a warrant.

Separately, Mohammad Hajizadeh, 23, from the village of Gavmish Goli in Miandoab County, was arrested by Ministry of Intelligence agents at around 3 a.m. on August 13.

Efforts by the families of both men to obtain information about their condition and whereabouts have so far been unsuccessful.

No information is available regarding the reasons for their arrests, the charges against them, their places of detention or their current condition.
