Kurdish man Pouria Valizadeh arbitrarily arrested by Iranian security forces in Bijar

Amid the continuing crackdown on protesters and dissidents, Pouria Valizadeh, a young Kurdish man from Bijar, was violently arrested by Iranian security forces and transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Valizadeh, 22, was arrested on the evening of Thursday, June 11, 2026, on a street in Bijar.

Sources told Hengaw that armed government forces confronted him in a public area of the city without presenting an arrest warrant or providing any prior warning. He was subjected to severe physical violence before being forcibly placed into a vehicle and taken away.

Informed sources stated that Valizadeh had been under ongoing surveillance and pressure from Iranian authorities in recent months due to allegations related to his participation in the January 2026 protests.
