Kurdish man Mostafa Pirouti arrested in Mahabad, transferred to security detention center in Urmia

Amid the continuing wave of arrests targeting Kurds across Kurdistan, 51-year-old Mostafa Pirouti has been arrested by agents of Iran’s Intelligence Department in Mahabad.
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Pirouti, originally from Piranshahr and a resident of Mahabad, was arrested on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Intelligence agents raided his family home, violently detained him without presenting a warrant, and transferred him to a security detention center in Urmia.
According to Hengaw sources, intelligence agents thoroughly searched his residence during the arrest and confiscated his mobile phone and other personal belongings.
No information has been made available regarding the reasons for his arrest or any charges brought against him.
